Peak Time for Fall Leaves in Jasper, Arkansas: 2024
Fall has arrived in Arkansas, along with the question: “When is the best time to see the Fall leaves?” According to The Smoky Mountain Region’s yearly Fall Foliage Prediction Map, the peak time to see Fall colors in the Ozarks is projected to be around October 28th. (This may change however!) Last year’s peak was around October 22nd and it has been noticeably dry in the Ozarks recently. Most locals to the area will recommend the last week of October thru the first week of November. Anyone planning a visit to Jasper between October 14th - November 3rd will likely see peak Fall foliage colors in the Ozarks. Current Fall Leaf Conditions: As of October 20th, the leaves will likely be in peak colors during this week. This is a little earlier than initially estimated. Last year’s peak color was around October 22nd. Views along HWY 7 still feature a mix of beautiful fall foliage with lots of yellow, orange, and red colors. Located approximately 2 miles to the south of Jasper along HWY 7, Round Top Mountain Trail offers a fun hiking trail with some gorgeous overlooks. It is the perfect place to explore before or after you eat and shop in Jasper. You can enjoy Round Top Mountain Trail every day, from sunrise to sunset, and there's a parking area conveniently located adjacent to the trailhead.
Two other places near Jasper that are perfect for checking out the Fall foliage are: Scenic Point and the Koen Experimental Forest. Scenic Point is located 3 miles south of Jasper along HWY 7 and features a lookout tower you can walk up to easily see panoramic views of the Ozark Mountains. The Koen Experimental Forest is located 3 miles north of Jasper along HWY 7 and features a paved walking trail, with over 34 different kinds of trees and plants labeled along the trail.
